Since 2004 Savant have been working closely with Medinfo to tailor parts of the existing off-the-shelf Hematos package to the requirements of the end-users - the UK Blood Services. These requirements extend the scope of Hematos to cover additional requirements such as detailed stem cell functional requirements, support for solid organ processing, HLA and HPA typing and cross-matching.

In partnership with the National Blood Service, Savant have devised and performed hundreds of tests and configured over a thousand system settings. The customised Hematos components are currently being used by the NBS for the bacteriology, cross-matching and the ante-natal sample processing functions of RCI. Work on modifying the Hematos product to include processing for testing, searching, cross-matching and production of stem-cell products will continue into 2007, with product enhancements being released periodically.
