Asset Tracking
To track an asset it must be uniquely identifiable so you know which asset is which. This is normally done by attaching a bar code or RFID tag to the asset. As an asset goes through a fixed point (a "gate") its transit is recorded and (if RFID is in use) data can be updated on the tag (e.g. time, status etc.). Savant have worked with a range of RFID tag types for tracking assets such as blood bags, surgical instruments and vehicle drivers.
Surgical Instruments
For surgical instruments we have used a stainless steel encased tag which is impervious to water and steam and can survive 140oC and pH12 water. This tag can be laser welded to stainless steel instruments and can have 2kbits of data written or read from it.This tag would be suitbale for use in any application that needs a robust RFID tag than can withstand a wide range of temperatures. This solution has been used with our EuroSDS instrument tracking system. |

Blood Bags
As well as tracking the location of blood bags we also need to know the temperature they have been held at. As blood products can be frozen to -80oC we need a tag that can survive being at this temperature. That tag would also need to be self powered and monitor the temperature frequently. We have a range of tags that offer this functionality and give transfusion staff the confidence that blood is safe to use at the patient bedside. Drivers
Whilst vehicle tracking has obvious business benefits, it is restricted to tracking the car or truck in question. There is no visibility of who is driving the vehicle. Our Pinpointers Telematics solution can tell you who is driving allowing you to address any issue with the correct individual. This key fob shaped device needs to be presented to a reader in the cab before the vehicle moves off (a buzzer will sound until this is done). |
