Package Procurement
|
When an organisation decides to procure packaged software, it is placing key aspects of its business in the hands of third parties. There are two main objectives of a software package procurement exercise: |
|
1. To assess the potential suppliers and their products. Assessing suppliers is as important as assessing their packages, as it is essential the purchasing organisation are confident in the supplier’s abilities to design, develop and maintain the product they are offering.
2. Assessing the closeness of fit of potential products to business models. This is an essential and non-trivial exercise which, if carried out successfully, will greatly reduce implementation time required for the chosen product and maximise the likelihood of the selection of the best-fit application.
Savant can help customers evaluate and select software packages that deliver real business benefits in both the short and long term. This in turn ensures a long-term, mutually beneficial business partnership can be formed between the software vendor and customer.
Savant acted as software package evaluation consultants to Vernon-Carus for their new surgical instrument tracking system. VC chose the EuroSDS system offering using a proven set of methods developed by Savant over the last decade - on projects for Pilkington Glass and Guardian Financial Services amongst others.
