Travelling by Foot

On the south side of the village on the A6070, Dalton Lane leads to the east. Follow this lane for a half a mile until you see a building with a clock tower on the left (see above). This is the Business Centre.

Alternatively, on a nice day, you can walk across the fields and get a fine view of the Lake Distict Fells.

Travelling by Bus

Stagecoach run the 555/556 service from Lancaster to Kendal and Keswick. The service runs through Carnforth (for the station), Milnthorpe, Windermere and Ambleside. The service runs approximately at hourly intervals The Stagecoach Northwest website can be found here. The best way to use the web site is to type Carnforth into the Bus Timetable Lookup departing from box. Click 'Click here to Browse Timetables' and then look for 554/555/556. This will give you a PDF timetable file.

Ask to be dropped at the south end of the village - by the 30mph sign. You will need to walk for the last half mile. Watch out for the very large timber lorries.

Travelling by Bike

Our offices are in excellent biking country with quiet roads and magnificent scenery. You do have to watch out for the occasional timber lorry on Dalton Lane.

We have covered bike accommodation at the Business Centre and showers if you need to spruce up.

Travelling by Rail

If you have a bike, the closest station is Silverdale. Carnforth is next closest but its best to pre-book taxis from here. Alternatively use Lancaster or Oxenholme where you can easily get a taxi.

  • Silverdale (3 miles) - Direct services to Barrow, Carnforth, Lancaster, Preston, Manchester (including Airport)
  • Carnforth (4 miles) - Direct services to Barrow, Leeds, Lancaster, Preston, Manchester (including Airport)
  • Lancaster (11 miles) - Direct services to London, Birmingham, Manchester (including Airport), Leeds, Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh
  • Oxenholme (10 miles) - Direct services to London, Birmingham, Manchester (including Airport), Leeds, Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh

Travelling by Taxi

If you come by train, you will probably need a taxi for the final leg to Dalton Hall. If arriving at Carnforth station, you will need to prebook a taxi. At Lancaster and Oxenholme stations, you can almost certainly pick up a taxi on demand from the station forecourt

Travelling by Plane

The nearest airport is Blackpool Airport but that is difficult to get to by public transport. Manchester Airport is 70 miles away and has a direct train service from the airport to Lancaster, Carnforth and Oxenholme stations. Liverpool Airport is 77 miles away but not as well served by public transport.

Travelling by Car

For SatNav our postcode is LA6 1BL but this may give an erroneous location. Please use postcode LA6 1NJ as an interim

Travelling from the South

  • Exit the M6 at Junction 35
  • Take the 1st roundabout exit onto the link road
  • Follow the M601 dual carriageway to the end and turn right onto the A6 (Scotland Road)
  • After a half mile, turn tight right at the roundabout and then immediate tight left onto the A6070, signposted Burton-in-Kendal
  • Follow the A6070 for 3 miles, to just before Burton-in-Kendal
  • Turn right into Dalton Lane and follow this lane for ¾ of a mile
  • Dalton Hall Business Centre is immediately left after the barn and has a clock tower. The main entrance and car park are at the rear

Travelling from the North Exit the M6 at Junction 36 Take the 1st roundabout exit onto A65 Skipton Immediately get in the right hand lane and take the right exit at the next roundabout - A6070 to Burton-in-Kendal Follow the A6070 for 3 miles until you reach Burton-in-Kendal. Drive through the village. As you leave the village, Dalton Lane is on the left.

Travelling from Leeds The scenic route is via the A65 - Leeds to Kendal. The shortest way from the A65 to Dalton Hall is to follow some minor roads from Kirkby Lonsdale. A map is recommended for this route which brings you to Dalton Hall from the east. Look out for the clock tower on the right after going down a steep hill.
