Savant attended the 36th British Blood Transfusion Society (BBTS) Annual Conference held for the first time in Brighton earlier this month.

Tailored to meet the specific needs of the transfusion professional, delegates from around the world gathered to spend three days in presentations, talks and workshops as well as visiting the trade exhibition with over 30 exhibitors demonstrating a range of transfusion specific products and services.

Savant’s history with the BBTS goes back over 20 years since the creation of PULSE. In that time, PULSE has evolved into the core system used by NHSBT as well as the blood services of Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and Jersey.

The conference also gave us an opportunity to demonstrate three new applications which were received well by the delegates.

• Li-LAC, a Human Breast Milk Labelling and Tracking System;
• LabelCyte which provides tissue and stem cell laboratories the freedom to create bespoke labels;
• SSC which was of interest to lots of visitors to the stand who were looking to acquire a stock control system.

We also took the opportunity to demonstrate the new proof of concept Gennaro app, a session related application which is designed to make the donor experience quicker and more efficient when donating. All those that tried it out were very impressed, commenting on the slick design and the upon the intuitive and easy to use interface. All agreed that it would reduce waiting times for donors and allow session staff to provide a much improved level of service.

All of our multi function pens (best in show) were snapped up by the delegates along with the personalised chocolate truffles!!

With next year’s show pencilled in for 18th to 20th September in Harrogate, preparations are already underway!
