Savant have been working closely with Zebra Technologies and Sciamed to create the Maternal Milk checking app that will run on the TC51 Android device. The handheld system for use in neo-natal and maternity units, checks that a baby is only being fed by breast milk expressed by her/his mother.
The system allows the neonatal nurse to print milk bottle labels including unique barcodes via a Bluetooth connected printer. These labels and the associated baby’s wrist band are scanned to ensure that they match before a feed is permitted. The app also records all feed instances for the potential upload into Li-LAC, the Human Milk Banking System also supplied by Savant.
The first outing for the new app will be at the Arab Health conference in Dubai between 29th January and 1st February where Zebra Technologies will be showcasing the app to an expected audience in excess of 100,000.
